Our Estate

Hooray!  We are on the internet again!

Our "boss" Alan Rudolph lives the other end of the estate.
This afternoon we took a walk to his home to fetch
some bananas, yoghurt, pineapple and apple he had left in his fridge.
He will be away for two weeks.
We will replace them for him when he comes back.

I took some pictures along our walk in the late afternoon.

A view as we leave our flat to walk down three flights of stairs.

To the East of us as we leave our building "Seaspray" on the left.

Facing West, the direction we walked -
"Seaspray" is on the right behind us - out of the picture.

Leaving our area "Sea Breeze" is on the left here,
and "Sea View" the tall building in the middle left.

Looking back at "Sea Spray" where we live (in the middle of the picture.)
Our flat is the top floor front and side balconies.

The children's play park on the way to Alan's home.

On the way up the hill to Alan I turned back to take a picture.

The road to Allan's home.

And further along looking down the hill to where we live.

Monkeys frolicking - they jumped from the wall on the right, onto the car,
and then up onto the wall on the left.
The monkeys are not very clear...

The section of houses where Allan lives.

A gorgeous chandelier in one of the mansions on our way back to where we live.

Walking back down the hill to where we live.
Light fading...

 Further down the hill.

Getting closer to our complexes.

Back to "Sea Breeze"

To the right of the circle.
I don't know what that complex is called.
"Sea Spray" is to the left of the circle.

This is to the left of the circle.
Our building is the one in the middle background.

This is our building on the left and a view down our street.
Just beyond the wall on the right is a swimming pool and another little street,
the next photo is from our building down the little street.

From our balcony we look down on the little street.
They are building new houses.
You can see my car parked - the furthest away.
We have another park on the ground floor of our building.
We alternate parking under cover and outside.

And a view from our front balcony down the street.
We have sea views to the left and to the right of the building in the middle.

And looking back to the West - towards the circle.
I don't know yet what the building to the right of the picture is called.

We see the sunset from our front and back balconies.
I love it!

The light definitely fading...
I wanted to share with you anyway.

Love you all!
I am very grateful to be on the internet again.

Durban Temple

The earthworks continue after some delay because of the rain and the excavations being like three pools of muddy, silty water which have now been drained.  Also with the fuel strike there was some idle time when the machines ran out of fuel.  A plan had been made and was implemented and drums of fuel were transported from Richards Bay.

The washed away areas were actually very beautiful to me.  I thought of how devastated we become when disasters occur in our lives.  And yet, with eyes that can see...

I so enjoy watching the co-operation, grace and excellence of the operators who know there vehicles and machines and work efficiently.

Some have paused when they could and talked to us without interrupting the flow of their work.  I love people and listening and watching them.

I also enjoy the silence (apart from the sound of the machines working) of the site.  I can wander around as I want to - being aware of the vehicles who have right of way.

I would love to put more pictures up - and I have discovered I cannot.  Glenn compiles a technical report every week with photos, and I compile a historical report also with photos, and apart from photos from outside the perimeter, I will not be posting any more photos here.

The site is visible from far and wide.  We have yet to go along the N2 to the North - we will when we are living closer to there. and don't spend so much time commuting

Here are a couple of pictures from roads in the estate.

From the south east -

From the east -

From the North West -

And we are off again attending to details regarding our move.
Perhaps we will be moved by next weekend.

Our New Place

304 Sea Spray, Ilala Estate, Unhlanga Rocks Road, La Lucia.
The Estate is the white buildings to the left of the road,
on La Lucia Ridge.

The entrance to the Estate.

Happy Day!
We got the keys today...

We might be moved in by the end of the week?
With elections tomorrow, and it being a public holiday,
we are not sure of people's availability to move the
heavy items for us.
Also not sure when the extra things that need to be purchased can be delivered.

In the meantime the Durban Mission has been so good to us.
We are very grateful.

Temporary Challenges...

We have had no internet since Thursday last week - the order to stop the service there has been implemented several months after the order to cancel it, and we may have no internet for a while we suspect, as our new place is brand new, and although the internet is ordered, knowing providers... it may be a while.  We hope we are pleasantly surprised.

In the meantime - please be patient, and we will be too.  We have our phones with us for urgent communications. 061-996-2845 Glenn, 072-341-2396 Judy.

All means of communication and doing business these days are much better than twenty years ago!

Our Spot

So lovely to sit here and enjoy the sounds and smell of the ocean.
