Patio Project - Time for the Flooring and Curtain Rails

Cleaning the floor thoroughly...

Applying the adhesive for the underfelt...

Carpet man due to come soon - he is ill right now.

Patio Project - Painting the Bathroom Door

Time to paint the new bathroom door.

Pink primer.

I had forgotten...

When I paint "oil paint" I line the tray with foil,

and when finished throw away the foil and the sponge roller.

I do clean the brushes - they are easy to clean with

Polycel brush cleaner or equivalent.

Universal undercoat.

And I did the enamel coat on Friday.

Each job done is one less to do!

Patio Project - Filling the Gap

The gap above the built-in-cupboards -

We both thought Glenn would do a better job than the cupboard contractor...

So here he is filling it in.

After two coats of ceiling white paint...

it needs another coat of paint.

And then, I am not sure if it would look better the 

colour of the walls rather than the colour of the ceiling

which is a slightly different white to the colour of the cupboards.

Perhaps I will have time to change my mind, 

and perhaps it will just stay like this for the time we are away.

Patio Project - Curtain rail and Carpets

Time for choosing the carpets and curtain rail.

We went exploring last week.

House and Home:

I rather fancy this short-pile lightly patterned carpet...

I'm not sure if we can make it work in our space.

Another alternative.

Glenn wants something "soft" under his bare feet.

 Then we went to Builder's Warehouse...

We are looking at "sufficient for each of our needs."

This was a curtain rail long enough to span the space we think...

Need to go home and measure...

I think this might do.

Not time yet to do it, but we have some ideas in our mind

that we can ponder on,

I have discovered that decisions made in haste are

sometimes regretted later.

I prefer to take my time whenever possible.

Patio Project - Laundry

Lots of work the last little while on the laundry side...

Thanks Douglas for laying the space while we were in England 

so that when we got back home home we were committed!

Glenn did all the preparing, I did the painting.

Most enjoyable for each of us - using our talents

for the good of both of us.

We wondered what to do about the floor...

The answer came by inspiration.

Sylvester came and helped with the laying of the brick paving.

Ready for grouting...

Doctor helped with the grouting on Tuesday.

Cecilia cleaned the windows on Wednesday.

I love my laundry!

The tumble drier is still to come out of the kitchen

and be put next to the washing machine...

at the moment the microwave oven sits on top of  the drier,

so we have to make a plan with that space for the

microwave before we take it out to the laundry.

Thank You Glenn - again...

I am very grateful every day of my life

for the comfort and convenience in which I live -

and lots of it is because you made it so.

Patio Project - Laundry Windows

Glenn has been working on the laundry windows for a while.

These windows will never move... 

 The glass goes in...

Originally the glass was ordered for a job 

one of Glenn's friends had.

When he came to fit the windows he discovered the measurements

had been inaccurate, so because he had ordered 

the right size glass to fit for the job he was busy with,

the previous lot of double-glazed glass was redundant.

Glenn bought the previous glass from him for a very good price.

Glenn has made frames to fit the glass panes he bought. 

Here he is fitting the last pane of glass.

 And today he fitted the handles.

Patio Project - Windows and Cupboards

The work continues - 

Glenn on the laundry windows,

A contractor on the bedroom cupboards.

Patio Project - One Thing Leads to Another...

Now that the sliding door is in...

The step from the laundry area to the first step outside is hazardous

unless you are really steady on your feet -

Which Vi is not, and also some of our other visitors...

                                  

Glenn building another step...

Then an aluminium strip to finish off the step.

Wonderfully creative Glenn!

He couldn't find the same as the other steps, 

but he found a similar enough pattern

and adapted it, and added it in.

I painted the whole steps this morning.

Now it is much easier to step across and then down the steps.
