Focus for Each Week of 2016

This is what I will be working with for the year of 2016.
I keep a copy in my car and glance at it when I commence a journey.
I remind myself occasionally when I stop at a red robot.

“Purity is possible through the grace of Christ as we deny ungodliness and choose to love God…” (Carol McConkie)

1/1          The past, your past, is behind you.  Think about your past.  Learn from it.
8/1          The future, your future, is before you.  Imagine you in your future.  Prepare for it.
15/1       The present, your present, is here, right now.  Live it purposely and courageously!
22/1       Learn to accept praise.  Smile and say “Thank you.”  No need for any more than those two words…
29/1       Recognise the worthy and worthwhile about yourself and others. Seek for it.
5/2          Stop.  Don’t ‘awfulize,’ ‘horribilize,’ ‘catastrophise.’  Be increasingly realistically optimistic.
12/2       There is at least one saintly person in your life. Name him/her/them. Enjoy their ‘love and light.’
19/2       There is at least one person you know who builds others up.  Identify them. Become like them.
26/2       Cherish those who love you, are patient with you, and believe in you.
4/3          Grow.  What new knowledge can you discover and embrace today?
11/3       Always follow an unsuccessful experience with a successful one as soon as possible.
18/3       Do something every day that you know you do well: clear a drawer, write, sing, sweep.
25/3       Share time and resources you can afford with someone who needs those.
1/4           Come… Behold…  Adore Him.  Jesus is the light which… shines… in… darkness.
8/4          Receive graciously.  Let others give time or resources they can afford to you.
15/4       Believe in something positive.  Write it down.  Display it where you can see it every day.
22/4       “There is a God.  I have an interest in Him.  He has an interest in me.”
29/4       Trust those around you in ways they prove trustworthy.
6/5          Be generous.  Give of yourself providing it isn’t harmfully stressful for you to do so.
13/5       Acknowledge and celebrate the right of each person to be different from you.
20/5       Be peaceful.  Meditate.  The only reality (for today) is now.
27/5       Fill a glass half full and display it.  Notice ways in which your life is half or more full.
3/6          Move on.  Don’t blame yourself or feel guilty for making mistakes in complex situations.
10/6       Become a person of action rather than reaction.  Succeed at least once each day.
17/6       Decide.  What are some objectives important to you?  Make progress in them.
24/6       Be more consistent.  Resist being problem-creatingly rigid.  Resist being too flexible.
1/7          Take time for wholesome myth, ritual, tradition and worship.
8/7          Take a walk around the block, and in the woods or a park, or calendar when you will.
15/7       Make time to relax every day.  Take five minutes in an hour or an hour in a day – or both!
22/7       Visit a museum, historical site or gallery, or plan when you will.
29/7       Spend some time with little children, or with tame or wild animals.
5/8          Read wise words or a good book this week, or at least a part of one every day.
12/8       Listen to, sing, or make some fine music every day.
19/8       Leave some details to someone else, especially when you feel sick, sad, afraid or busy.
26/8       Move through your days thankfully.  Relish and cherish the gift of every, every day.
2/9          Move more.  Exercise, walk or dance every day. (Rest more if you are doing too much.)
9/9          Enjoy some sunshine every day.  Feel its warmth.  Savour its brilliance and significance.
16/9       Live in dignity with unfinished tasks and loose ends.  Only a corpse is completely finished.
23/9       Leave enough time between activities.  Allow for lead time and after-burn.
30/9       Allow time in your schedule for the unexpected.  Have some plans for the surprises of life.
7/10       Schedule fewer tasks each day.  Schedule more activities if you are doing too little.
14/10     Reasonably expect yourself to finish most of your work without undue pressure.
21/10     Leave early enough for appointments so you do not need to rush to get where you are going.
28/10     Rise earlier in the morning if you need to.  Go to bed earlier if you are a procrastinating night owl.
4/11       Practice saying “No.” and “Yes” plainly.  Leave out the ‘No but…’ or ‘Yes but…’
11/11     Fear not.  Be of good cheer.
18/11     If something threatens to cut into your planned leisure time, say a firm, fair and friendly “no.”
25/11     Know YOUR values.  Write down your top five.  Memorise them.
2/12       Know YOUR priorities.  What are they each day?  Work to accomplish at least one.
9/12       Know YOUR limits.  What can you not do?  What will you not do?  Live within your bounds.
16/12     Practice slowing or quickening your pace of eating, walking and talking as you need to.
23/12     Breathe more slowly, deeply, gratefully and conscious of the gifts of Christ to you..

30/12     Take personal responsibility for how you live each unique and irreplaceable day of your life.
